Worshiping at Christmas

The Sunday before Christmas, we look at the story of the Angel Gabriel coming to the Virgin Mary to tell her that she would conceive a son. A son, that would conquer death and provide a means of salvation to all that would accept Him as their savior. From the story, we glean how we can worship genuinely at Christmas: marvel at the miraculous, confront the reality of our lives and our condition, and finally, submit wholeheartedly to the Lord. 

Preparing to Worship

In this sermon, we explore the preparatory work that laid a foundation to prepare a people ready to receive Christ into the world. We answer the question, how should we prepare to worship at Christmas.

A Greater High Priest

In the close of the fourth chapter of Hebrews the author marries together the two major themes covered thus far in the book to explain the nature of Jesus as the High Priest of our faith. Jesus' supremacy of all things informs our worship. Understanding who Jesus is is essential to worship the way we are supposed to. In this sermon, we explore how these two ideas are related.

As we look at the second part of the second major warning found in the book of Hebrews, we are encouraged to enter God's promised rest by spending time in His presence - which is his active and living Word, the Bible.

A Greater Brace

In the second warning found in the book of Hebrews, we are warned against allowing our hearts to become hardened against God. We are also provided with a practical encouragement to safeguard ourselves against such a severe condition, that we encourage one another.

A Greater Reliance

Up unto this point in the book of Hebrews, the author has stressed the superiority of Jesus by his nature. Today, as we study Hebrews 3:1-6, our focus shifts to how we are to respond to this supremacy. We can rely on Jesus because he is in control of all things.

A Greater Savior

This week we dive into the understanding of how salvation works and how it affects the lives of believers as we study Hebrews 2:5-18. 

A Greater Message

The first direct warning given to us by the author of Hebrews is an encouragement to believers to remain steadfast in our commitment to become mature followers of the faith.
